There is no perfect itinerary

Travel advice is full of must-sees, ideal routes and places everyone says you have to visit. But what works for one traveller can leave another exhausted, bored or disappointed. We look at the trade-offs and consider pace, cost, comfort, crowds, logistics and the experience itself so you can decide what is actually worth your time.

Beyond the Photo Op grew out of our own frustration with travel advice that often reflected someone else’s way of travelling, not ours. The goal here is to use firsthand experience, real costs and specific examples to help you make better decisions for the way you actually want to travel.

That starts with knowing how you travel. The better you understand your own pace, priorities and tolerance for friction, the easier it is to build a trip that actually suits you.
